Here at Marlborough Ford, we are passionate about standing up to hunger in our community. Throughout the year, our dealership participates in local food drives including our own We Scare Hunger initiative hosted in October, in hopes that no Calgary child will have to go hungry. December is a great time to get into the Christmas spirit by generously donating canned goods to the Mayor’s Annual Food Drive, which is going on its 28th year of collaborating with other members of the community for a hunger-free Christmas in Calgary.
Donate and Make a Difference
The Mayor’s Annual Christmas Food Drive has raised over $10 million in food and funds for the Calgary Food Bank since the drive began. With over 147 schools participating in the drive last year, the Calgary Food Bank projects this year to be better than ever before. By making a donation of a non-perishable food item to any of sponsor locations, you are making a difference in the lives of families all over Calgary. If you are interested in donating, you can bring food throughout the month of December to any sponsor location.
To make the Mayor’s Annual Christmas Food Drive even more fun, the CANstruction Junior competition will be part of the festivities again this year. CANstruction Junior offers students the chance to build fun and creative structures made entirely out of the full cans of food donated by the community. This year’s theme is Super Heroes vs. Super Villains, so be sure to get your donations in so the students have plenty of cans to work with!
We hope that you join us in donating any non-perishable food items to this great cause. If you would like to be kept in the loop about more local events or food drives, please continue to check back with the community section of our blog here at Marlborough Ford in Calgary, AB.
