October 2017 WE Scare Hunger Halloween Food Drive Calgary AB
Hunger is a major program for a significant segment of the population in Canada. According to Food Banks Canada, 13% of Canadians live in a state of food insecurity, which means they don’t have access to adequate amounts of safe, good-quality and nutritious food. During October 2017, Marlborough Ford in Calgary is teaming up with the WE Movement for the annual WE Scare Hunger Halloween food drive, in which we’re collecting food for Canadians in need.
Hunger has many negative effects on people, including headaches, nausea, inability to concentrate and emotional trauma. It also leads to many long-term health conditions if left unchecked. Each month, over 850,000 Canadians require help from food banks. More than one third of these individuals are children and youth. The WE Scare Hunger food drive helps address this by providing food for individuals and families who face food insecurity, while helping to raise awareness about hunger.
