An all-new second-generation 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine features advanced dual port and direct injection technology, reduced internal friction and improved robustness. The 5.0-liter V8 also sees improvements for 2018, as the naturally aspirated engine now delivers 395 horsepower, compared to 385 horsepower for the 2017 model. Also, the 2018 F-150 adds an available all-new 3.0-liter Power Stroke V6 diesel engine. It’s the first-ever diesel engine offered for the F-150.

Differences Between the 2018 F-150 and 2017 F-150

With its powerful engines and high-strength, military-grade, aluminum alloy body, the 2018 Ford F-150 can tow heavier trailers and carry heavier payloads. The maximum towing capacity has been increased to 13,200 pounds (12,200 pounds for the 2017 model), while the maximum payload capacity has been increased to 3,270 pounds (3,220 pounds for the 2017 model). Also, the 2018 F-150 offers the available Blind Spot Information System with trailer tow technology, which accounts for the length of a trailer up to 33 feet. The system uses radar sensors in the taillamps to monitor areas that may not be visible to the driver.

The 2018 F-150 also offers new connectivity and multimedia features. With the newly available embedded 4G LTE modem for a Wi-Fi hotspot, F-150 drivers and passengers can connect up to 10 mobile devices, while the available B&O PLAY audio system takes advantage of high-end speakers, sound and tuning to create an incredible concert hall-like sound experience. On the safety front, the available Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection helps the driver avoid or mitigate collisions with vehicles and pedestrians.
