From a Track Star to a Daily Driver - The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Does It All

There are plenty of sports cars available on the market today boasting the latest, greatest, and fastest technology. Yet, there are none more track- and road-ready than the all-new 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1. After a 17 hiatus, Ford brings back the Mach 1 name and performance with a more powerful engine and the latest in track-ready upgrades from the Shelby GT350 and GT500.

Overview

The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 packs a lot of punch in a little package. It offers speed, superb handling, a comfortable ride, and astounding style. It delivers 480 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque thanks to its 5.0-litre Ti-VCT V8 engine, allowing it to whip around turns with ease and blow away the competition.

Models and Pricing

The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 starts at $66,055 and is offered in two trim levels: Mach 1 and Mach 1 Premium. There is nothing entry-level about the lower-priced Mach 1 trim. It comes outfitted with many systems designed for pure performance, such as an active valve performance exhaust system, Brembo six-piston front brake calipers with larger rotors, MagneRide damping system, and a TREMEC six-speed manual transmission.

Starting at $68,055, the Mach 1 Premium model includes everything from the standard model plus aluminum foot pedals, heated and cooled front seats, heated steering wheel, premier trim, and memory driver seat, mirrors, and ambient lighting. For the small increase in price, the Mach 1 Premium provides the best value and features to drivers in Canada.

Performance

Even though it includes many features that make it track-worthy, the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 is also completely drivable on the street. There are three powertrain settings--Normal, Sport, and Track--to adjust the performance to how and where drivers need it. It offers a comfortable and composed ride, even on the worst roads, and is perfectly acceptable as a really fun daily driver.

Ford built the 2021 Mustang Mach 1 with a 5.0-litre Ti-VCT V8 engine that delivers 480 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. It flies from 0 to 97 km/h in 4.3 seconds, and the optional Handling Package is a must for those that want to take it on the track. This package includes upgraded wheels, adjustable strut top mounts, performance rear spoiler, revised chassis tuning, and more.

Features Safety

While the performance features are the most fun to talk about, the Mustang Mach 1 is still a car that has to contend with other vehicles on the highway or track. For that reason, Ford built it with several driver-assist technologies, including pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and forward collision warning with brake support. In addition, a lane keeping system and blind spot information system with cross-traffic alert also come standard, in addition to other features.

In terms of infotainment, the Mach 1 features Ford's SYNC3 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM Radio, FordPass Connect Wi-Fi hotspot, and a nine-speaker sound system with amplifier.

The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 does not disappoint, and it clearly tops its segment in terms of power and performance.
