2022 Ford Explorer XLT

Ford's 2022 Explorer is the best-suited SUV for family duties among its various trucks and SUVs. Explorer is versatile for buyers toting kids and all the gear, with three rows of seats and generous cargo space. A base engine on the Explorer should be sufficient for most drivers. It features plenty of tech features and driver assistance systems.

Here are a few things you need to know about the 2022 Ford Explorer XLT:

Performance

A 300-horsepower 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine powers the Explorer's base, XLT, and Limited models, and this engine is easily the Explorer's most impressive engine. In 2020, the Explorer lineup was expanded to include a hybrid. It’s powered by a 3.3-litre V-6 engine combined with an electric motor giving a total power capacity of 318 horsepower. An Explorer XLT equipped with the proper equipment has a towing capacity of 5600 pounds. Standard on all Explorer models, including the XLT, is a 10-speed automatic transmission.

An easy-to-use dial on the centre console lets you control the system that manages all terrain with intelligent 4WD. You can choose from 7 different normal drive modes: eco, trail, slippery, sport, deep snow/sand, and tow/haul, each with its own 3D animated graphic on the 12.3" display.

Interior

Although the cabin's interior design is excellent, it’s also functional and comfortable. There are 8-way power seats for the driver, second-row captain's chairs and a 50/50 split-folding third-row on every Ford Explorer. With a push of a button, the second-row seat slides away, giving you more room for the third row. However, the seat is too close to the ground for older kids and adults to sit comfortably. Additional interior features include abin particle air filter, the electronically adjustable temperature in three zones and rear auxiliary climate control.

Connectivity and Infotainment

Several standard features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Its appealing, user-friendly design and intuitive interface make navigation a breeze. You can upgrade to one of the Explorer's most expensive trims if you want the optional 10.1-inch vertically oriented screen. All models come with a voice-activated navigation system and a system for entertaining the passengers in the back seat. Additionally to the Explorer's base stereo configuration, a 12-speaker stereo system from B&O comes standard.

Fuel Economy & Price

The Explorer has a wide range of EPA fuel-economy ratings because of its myriad powertrain and drivetrain combinations. It’s estimated that the rear-drive hybrid model can achieve up to 12.33 km/L on the highway and 11.45 km/L in the city. Adding all-wheel drive reduces hybrid fuel economy ratings by 1.28 and 1.7 km/L. Starting at $47,799, the 2022 Explorer XLT offers value for money.

Every Explorer, including the XLT, comes equipped with advanced driver assistance technology and can be upgraded with features like self-parking. The 2022 Explorer XLT has the following additional safety features:
