The Maverick is the first mainstream pickup to feature a hybrid powertrain as standard. A 2.5L four-cylinder gas engine is paired with an electric motor to create a combined output of 191 horsepower and 151lb-ft of torque, passed to front-wheel drive via a continuously variable transmission (CVT). This configuration delivers a maximum range of 800km, at an enviable fuel economy of just 5.6L / 100km in the city and 7.1L on the highway.
Powerful Gas Turbo Option
But if you need a little more power, there's also the option of a traditional gas powertrain built around a 2.0L turbo I-4. This mill ups the output to 250 horsepower and 277lb-ft, a generous amount for a compact truck. However, fuel economy isn't quite so frugal, with figures of 10.2L / 100km in the city and 7.8L on the highway. The gas powertrain is available with either front-wheel or all-wheel drive, both featuring an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Towing and Payload
The Maverick may be a compact truck, but it still delivers some highly useful capability figures. The hybrid model can handle up to 682kg in payload, and haul up to 909kg in trailer weight. Move up to the gas engine, while also adding the optional 4K Tow package, and the tow rating increases to an impressive 1,818kg. And to increase the Maverick's versatility, the compact pickup bed is available with segmented storage, cargo racks, dual 12-volt electrical outlets, and a 110-volt outlet for power tools.
Interior and Infotainment
The Maverick's interior takes plenty of design inspiration from family SUVs, with a variety of storage cubbies, bottle holders, and cable organizers helping to keep the spacious cabin neat and tidy. Every trim level of the Maverick also includes an 8" infotainment touchscreen, with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Wi-Fi hotspot with support for up to ten devices.

At the base level, the 2022 Maverick is supplied with automatic emergency braking and automatic high beams.
