The All-New 2022 Ford Maverick Comes to Canada

Ford's model lineup is carefully curated to ensure that there is a vehicle to meet every need and most wants. As the automobile buyers eye up more hybrid and electric vehicles to lessen their carbon footprint, Ford stepped up its game by introducing an all-new small pickup truck to its lineup--the 2022 Ford Maverick.

Never seen before in the Ford lineup, the Maverick is a small pickup truck that features a full-hybrid powertrain. It slides in right below the mid-size Ford Ranger and offers buyers truck capability, five passenger seating, and great fuel economy.

Pricing and Specifications

The 2022 Ford Maverick makes good on all its promises as a brand-new, first-ever full-hybrid pickup truck for Ford. It also offers great value for Canadian drivers with low prices not seen on many trucks. Ford offers the Maverick in three trim levels across Canada: XL, XLT, and Lariat.

Starting at $25,900, the entry-level XL model includes standard features such as the hybrid powertrain, Wi-Fi hotspot, touchscreen infotainment system, FordPass Connect, LED headlamps, rear under-seat storage bins, and more. It has plenty of advanced features and capability for the average driver.

For drivers wanting more in both the design and convenience departments, the mid-level XLT version fits the bill. Starting at $28,500, this trim level adds cubby storage in the truck bed, 17-inch painted aluminum wheels, an upgraded interior, power locking tailgate, and wiper-activated headlamps.

Starting at $34,450, the top-of-the-line Lariat is a true work of art, providing drivers with an interior that caters to comfort with premium grain desert brown ActiveX seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, ambient lighting, acoustics windshield, dual-zone electronic automatic temperature controls, and a 6.5-inch productivity screen. Intelligence Access with push-button start also allows for seamless entry and ignition without having to take the key fob out of your pocket.

Advanced Features and Performance

The Maverick's great feature is its powertrain, which rolls practicality and capability into one. The 2.5-litre four-cylinder hybrid powertrain delivers 1,814kg of towing capability, 191 horsepower, and an estimated 5.9 L/100km city fuel economy. It is available in either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and a non-hybrid powertrain is also offered that delivers 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. For drivers that haul a lot, a FLEXBED provides even more versatility to the truck.

Ford packed a lot of technology features into the 2022 Maverick, offering great value for the price. A standard 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system features Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and 4G LTE in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot while a 4.3-inch productivity screen keeps drivers alerted to vehicle operations.

Ford also ensures driver safety by building the Maverick with many standard driver-assist features, including auto high-beam headlamps, pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, a rearview camera, and more.

Availability

The small pickup market has long been neglected and never has a hybrid powertrain been offered. Ford filled that need with the 2022 Maverick, making it both practical and affordable to drivers. Beginning in the fall of 2021, the Maverick will be available to drivers across Canada, and drivers should get in line today to reserve their preferred model.
