2022 Ford F 150 Lightning vs Tesla Cybertruck

2022 Ford F 150 Lightning vs Tesla Cybertruck

Does anyone still believe that electric vehicles are less powerful? Well, it's about time to bust this myth for good. The 2022 Ford F 150 Lightning and the Tesla Cybertruck prove that it's possible to have performance and still don't harm the environment. Come with us as we compare performance, trims, and prices.

Performance

Performance

The 2022 Ford F 150 Lightning has between 230 miles and 300 miles of range, depending on its battery pack. Its 150-kW DC charges the battery really fast and can add 54 miles every ten minutes on the plug.

Tesla claims that its Cybertruck will have 500 miles of autonomy. However, it's hard to tell for sure now, while the vehicle is still at an experimental level. The Cybertruck will only hit the roads in 2023, so it's tricky to compare driveability.

Interior Designs

The Ford F-Series is one of the most popular truck lineups in Canada. Although the 2022 Ford F 150 Lightning is greatly updated, it hasn't lost its classic touch. While the Cybertruck invests in a touchscreen experience for almost everything in it, the F 150 still keeps some buttons around.

Ford's interior space is big enough to house a fold-out workstation and front seats that can bend 180 degrees. The Cybertruck interior design is much more Cyberpunk-like, as one would expect, judging from its outsides. The yoke-shaped steering wheel, one of the brand's trademarks, is also present.

Technology and Driveability

Technology and Driveability

The F-150 Lightning brings a navigation system called BlueCruise, which controls the wheels and acceleration, among other things. Thanks to BlueCruise, drivers don't really need to keep their hands on the wheel. However, don't think you'll get away with napping: there's an infrared camera monitoring whether you're looking at the road.

Tesla Cybertruck is expected to come with its already traditional Level 2 Autopilot system. This system has smart cruise controls, automated steering, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-change suggestions. It'll even stop at traffic lights and park itself.

Trims

Trims

Ford beats Tesla in trim options. While the latter has only three trims, the 2022 Ford F 150 Lightning has four: Pro, XLT, Lariat, and Platinum. The price gap between the entry-level and the flagship model is considerably wide: about CAD 50,000. There'll be plenty of specs to choose from, and make it your own. The latest Ford EV battery allows it to drive for 300 miles without charging.

Tesla Cybertruck will come with trim levels: Single Motor RWD, Dual Motor AWD, and Tri-Motor AWD. The price gap between the standard and the flagship models is about CAD 30,000.
