Under the hood of the 2019 Ford Ranger is the 2.3L EcoBoost engine, which doles out an impressive 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. This is the highest torque output of any vehicle in the midsize truck segment. The EcoBoost engine is mated to the smooth and efficient 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. No other midsize truck has a transmission with this many gears.

Towing and Payload Capabilities of 2019 Ford Ranger

With its powerful engine, Hotchkiss suspension, and high-strength steel frame, the Ranger is a towing beast, with a best-in-class maximum conventional towing capacity of 7,500 pounds (3,402 kg). The Ranger also offers a number of towing features, including a trailer brake controller, Trailer Sway Control, and the Blind Spot Information System with Trailer Coverage.
